About

It all starts with a take before kickoff

Koppa has been building prediction games since 2006. Twenty years of pools, tournaments and arguments, now gathered into two games under one name.

The story

Twenty years of getting it wrong in public.

It started, as most things do, with a pool at somebody's work. A sheet of paper, a tournament bracket, and a group of people convinced they knew better than everyone else in the room. Somebody had to collect the predictions. Somebody had to check the scores. Somebody had to keep it fair by hand — and that somebody always ended up with a spreadsheet that broke in the quarterfinals.

In 2006 we built the first version properly, for football fans in the Netherlands. It worked, so we built one for Belgium. Then the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and across the Atlantic to Argentina, Chile, Mexico and the United States. Cycling followed in 2020. Over two decades that grew into more than a dozen separate sites, each with its own name, its own login and its own audience.

That was a lot of doors into the same game. So we brought it together. Everything we learned across those twenty years now lives in two places: football at koppafootball.com, and cycling at koppacycling.com. Same game, far fewer places to remember.

How we build

The rules we hold ourselves to.

Experience first

Every screen earns its place. If a feature does not make the game better on matchday, it does not ship.

Performance always

How fast the app opens matters. How quickly a prediction locks in matters. Speed is a feature, not an optimisation for later.

No dark patterns

No manufactured urgency, no buried settings, no tricks to keep you scrolling. You came here to make a prediction and get on with your day.

Fair by default

Predictions lock when play starts, points are calculated the same way for everyone, and the table is visible to the whole league.

The journey

How we got here.

  1. 2006

    The first pool goes online

Our first football prediction platform launches in the Netherlands, later rebuilt and renamed Toernooivoetbal.com with every result kept intact.

  2. 2017

    Across the border

Belgium gets its own platform, and the idea that this might work outside one country stops being a theory.

  3. 2018

    Four more countries

The United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain follow within a single year.

  4. 2020

    Cycling joins in

Our first cycling prediction game launches, proving the format works well beyond ninety minutes.

  5. 2021

    Latin America

Argentina, Chile and Mexico come online ahead of a busy international calendar.

  6. 2022

    The United States

A platform for football fans in the US, timed for a decade of tournaments heading to North America.

  7. 2026

    Two domains, one Koppa

The whole portfolio consolidates into koppafootball.com for football and koppacycling.com for cycling.
